John F. Masciarelli

John F. Masciarelli has been a licensed Funeral Director for 18 years and is the President-Treasurer of Masciarelli Family Funeral Homes. He is a corporator of the Friends of the Senior Citizens Center and served on its board of directors. He is a member and consultant for "Families Moving Forward After Loss". He is a member of the Fitchburg East Rotary Club, serving on its Board of Directors and is a Paul Harris Fellow, and founder of the Rocky Piccicuto Scholarship. He is a past President of the Montachusett Funeral Directors Association and has served on the board of directors of the Wallace Civic Center, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association, St. Bernard's Parish Council and Audit committee, Co-Chairman of the St. Bernard's Renovation Fund in 1992, Chairman of the St. Bernard's Parish Foward in Faith Campaign in 1999, Vice President of the St. Bernard's Elementary School Parents Teachers Association, a former Co-chairperson of the St. Bernard's Parish Bazaar for several years, a longtime Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Joseph P. Keating, Fitchburg Council #99 and longtime Board member, the Fitchburg Order of the Sons of Italy in America, Cristoforo Columbo Regina Lodge #169, the Irish American Association and the Fitchburg Y.M.C.A. He was recently appointed an
incorporator of the Fidelity Cooperative Bank.

He is 1970 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg, and has degrees from Mount Wachusett Community College, Fitchburg State College, and the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Science in Boston. He lives with his two daughters, Melissa and Patricia in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home at 243 Water St., Fitchburg.


Michael D. Masciarelli

Michael D. Masciarelli has been a licensed Funeral Director for 9 years. He was born and brought up in Hudson, Mass., and graduated from Hudson High School in 1985. He attended the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth before graduating from New England Institute at Mt Ida College in Newton in 1991.

Michael has been a Funeral Director and embalmer with the Masciarelli Family Funeral Homes since 1994 and now manages the three Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes in Fitchburg, Lunenburg and Westminster. Prior to this he was a Funeral Director and embalmer at the Fairhaven Funeral Home in Fairhaven, Mass. and then Levine Chapel in Brookline, Ma.

He is a member and Past President of the Fitchburg Exchange Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Joseph P. Keating , Fitchburg Council #99., the Fitchburg Order of the Sons of Italy in America, Cristoforo Columbo Regina Elena Lodge #169, the South Street School Council and the Diversified Visiting Nurses Hospice Advisory Board all in Fitchburg, and is a member of St. Boniface Parish in Lunenburg.

Michael lives is the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home at 763 Massachusetts Ave., in Lunenburg with his wife Betsy and their two daughters, Gabriella and Molly.


Henry J. Masciarelli (1924-1998)

Henry J. Masciarelli was a licensed funeral director for 50 years. He was a former trustee of the Fitchburg Public Library, served 26 years as a director of the Fidelity Co-Operative Bank and chairman of its security committee, retiring in 1995. He was also a 25-year member of the Fitchburg Rotary Club and served as a board member of the Salvation Army as well as many other civic and fraternal organizations. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and the New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science and Embalming. He is a veteran of World War II, serving with the 10th Mountain Division in the European theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and decorated with the Bronze Star. His wife of 50 years, Rita (Danahey) Masciarelli, lives in Lunenburg, MA.


Walter "Wally" C. Taylor

Walter joined the Masciarelli Family Funeral Home staff as a Funeral Director in March of 1999 and now manages the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home at 123 Main St. in Westminster. He was born and brought up in Jamaica, New York and moved in 1980 to Boca Raton, Florida, where he graduated from Boca Raton Community High School in 1983. He then graduated from the College of Boca Raton with an Associate of Science Degree in Mortuary Science in 1987. He was a Funeral Director at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home in Marblehead, Mass., and then later at the St. Laurent Funeral Home in Nashua, N.H., and the Stanton Funeral Home in Watertown, Mass.

Walter is a member and usher at St. Edward the Confessor Parish in Westminster, a Board member and Sergeant at Arms of the Westminster Rotary Club, the Westminster School Council Improvement Board, and the Community member of the Westminster Community Partnership.

He lives in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home at 123 Main St. in Westminster with his wife, Amy, and their two children Sydney and Zachary.
